He said he co-founded a state-chartered bank in 2008 and served as CEO, and he emphasized his analytical experience and regulatory familiarity.
Committee members asked Perez about his reasons for seeking reappointment and his contributions. Senator Tregg Burn asked why Perez wished to continue serving; Perez said he believed he could make a contribution and that the governor had asked him to continue. Senator Kelly Anthon praised Perez’s record of civic service and thanked him for giving back to the state.
Perez also commended staff in the treasurer’s office, noting the competency of leadership and technical staff and singling out the treasurer’s team for praise.
The committee did not vote; Chairman Guthrie said members would vote on Perez’s appointment at the committee’s next meeting.
