Board trims superintendent’s community-engagement targets; approves revised performance goals

Superintendent Carolyn Stewart had proposed targets that board members described as ambitious in light of current baseline participation. Board members moved to cut the numeric targets under Goal 2 (community participation) roughly in half to make them more attainable. A motion to adopt the goals with that change passed by unanimous voice vote.
Board members discussed ways to increase community attendance at meetings, including scheduling student performances or recognitions at the start of regular meetings so parents would be present. The superintendent said she would consider those adjustments as part of implementing the goals and return data on progress in subsequent meetings.
