"We actually opened into the new city hall. The plan is to close city hall, the special city hall, and now on the 30th and 31st, that's at Thursday and Friday to make sure all communications transfer and everything is downtown and open up that 3rd, that Monday morning," Speaker 2, a council member, said. The speaker added the council plans a ribbon-cutting at 8 a.m. on Feb. 3.
Staff explained that some items are being moved earlier to the third floor and basement and that first-floor activities cannot resume until certain upgrades to finance, administration and human resources are complete. "Some of those things are being moved now, but we cannot do anything on that first floor until everything is finished," Speaker 2 said. Staff said temporary internet service will be provided during the transition.
Council members said they expect to hold the second council meeting in February at the new City Hall to confirm operations are working; the transcript records no formal vote or ordinance associated with the relocation in this session.
