Brown Armstrong, the outside accounting firm auditing Kern LAFCO's 2023–24 finances, issued an unmodified (clean) opinion and reported no audit findings, the firm's representative told the Commission on Jan. 15. Lindsey Zimmerman, the Brown Armstrong representative, summarized the audit and said, "We have an unmodified or clean opinion and we have no findings."
Executive Officer Knox told commissioners the agency was under budget for the eighth consecutive year and noted prior CalPERS liability increases had driven recent fiscal pressure. Commissioners moved to receive the audit report and acknowledged staff and external accountants for their work; the clerk recorded the matter as a receiving file.
The Commission received recognition of staff work on the audit. Commissioners thanked accounting staff and external partners Schnell Baker and others for their assistance during the process. The Commission made no substantive policy decisions tied to the audit at the meeting.
