Public commenter urges full audit and repayment related to former board member travel

Timothy Meyer, a registered public commenter, told the Board Audit Committee on Jan. 13 that the committee should press for a full audit and for repayment of alleged missing funds connected to a former District 1 board member who, Meyer said, lived and worked in Missouri for six months while elected in Maryland.
Meyer accused the OIC (referenced in his remarks) of producing an "incomplete summary" and urged the committee to "get real answers from taxpayers and complete the failed audit OIC failed and complete the full audit that OIC failed to do." He said it has been "175 days since news reports" about the matter and asked whether taxpayers — Maryland's or Missouri's — had paid for flights, lodging, per diem, registration or other conference costs when the former member attended events between January and July 2024. He said a missing amount of "$9,700 in PGCPS funding that's currently missing in Missouri" should be returned if it was improperly used.
Meyer asked the committee to consider a vote of no confidence in the OIC and to seek answers about who paid expenses and whether any public funds were used to support the former board member's travel or new employment. He said he would submit a written request to the committee for the public record.
No committee action or vote was taken on Meyer's public comment during the Jan. 13 meeting; the committee proceeded to the CIP presentation. The committee acknowledged the comment on the record.
