Mayor Othaniel Sierra opened each interview by telling candidates, “we're gonna be asking you a series of 7 questions tonight.”
The interviews are part of the city’s routine appointments process to fill expiring terms and a small number of vacancies. Candidates answered standardized questions about their motivations, relevant experience and availability. Many applicants said they applied because they live in Englewood and want to contribute directly to local services: childcare, parks, library programs, traffic safety and water management featured repeatedly in answers.
