County discusses using remaining ARPA capital funds for LEC remodel; federal reporting extends to 2027

Staff and committee members said this is the last year for active ARPA program spending and that most remaining ARPA money is in the capital category. A committee member suggested moving remodeling costs for the old law enforcement center (LEC) used by the maintenance department into the ARPA capital bucket and processing those costs through county financial staff to close the program.
Staff reminded the committee that federal reporting obligations for ARPA continue: the county can spend through calendar year 2026 but must complete final reporting in April 2027.
No formal action to reallocate ARPA funds was taken at the meeting; staff said they will coordinate with department heads as needed to process eligible capital expenses.
