Capitola nominates members for LAFCO seat and optional 3CE role; council ratifies appointments

The Capitola City Council on Jan. 16 nominated Councilmember (self-nomination) and Vice Mayor Clark for timely regional appointments and voted to ratify council representation to the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) and a nonvoting seat on the 3CE board.
Staff told the council that the city selection committee meets Jan. 27 and that Capitola’s nominee would be considered at that meeting for a LAFCO seat. The council discussed the LAFCO seat and the optional nonvoting 3CE position. Councilmember [self-nominee] nominated themself for the LAFCO seat; Vice Mayor Clark was also nominated to represent the city at regional meetings.
A council motion to ratify the appointments was moved and seconded; the council approved the motion by roll call. The record shows votes of “Aye” by Councilmember Jensen, Councilmember Orbach, Councilmember Peterson and Vice Mayor Clark.
Staff said a comprehensive review of all city regional board assignments will be brought back after the council has a full five members. The appointments made Jan. 16 are time-sensitive because the city selection committee meets Jan. 27 to act on the LAFCO seat.
