Healy announces $100 million AI hub and ties clean‑energy policy to economic growth

BOSTON — Governor Maura T. Healey said Massachusetts will invest in artificial intelligence research and infrastructure and continue to lead on clean energy and climate permitting.
Healy announced a $100,000,000 commitment toward an AI hub to support researchers, start‑ups and companies and cited support for a data center in Holyoke that will back advanced computing and university research. The governor said AI will be used to accelerate medical research, climate planning and state service delivery and called for the state to lead on AI development.
On climate and energy, Healy said recently passed climate legislation accelerates permitting to build infrastructure needed for more solar power and other clean energy projects, and she thanked labor leaders for partnership on implementation. She framed the combined investments in AI and climate tech as part of an economic strategy to grow jobs across the state and power new labs, data centers and manufacturing.
Healy said the administration will support these investments with targeted programs to help companies scale and to back workforce development in emerging sectors.
