Council hears resident complaints about Old Bridal Lane drainage and missing street signs

A council member raised multiple public complaints Jan. 14 about the condition of Old Bridal Lane and asked the borough to evaluate drainage, ownership and short-term fixes.
The speaker said parts of the unpaved road sit in both Munhall and West Mifflin, that drainage does not function properly and that driveways become difficult or impossible to use after storms. The speaker asked the borough engineer to inspect the street and provide specifications and cost estimates; the council discussed options including installing a catch basin and tapping into an adjacent outfall. “We could put a catch basin there and tap it in… But you're talking, you know, $30,000,” the council discussion recorded.
Council members also noted there is no street sign at either end of Old Bridal Lane, creating confusion for emergency response and deliveries; a resident asked that signs be installed. One speaker said West Mifflin has graded and placed gravel on portions of the roadway while Munhall has not, and suggested the borough reach an intermunicipal agreement to share costs for a paving or drainage project.
Council agreed to have the engineer and manager gather information, cost estimates and feasible short-term repairs (grading, catch basin installation, temporary smoothing) and to continue the conversation with West Mifflin. No formal vote or commitment of funds was recorded at the Jan. 14 workshop.
