Springdale approves $70,000 incentive for Slick City Action Parks at Beltway Plaza

The Springdale City Council on Jan. 15 approved Ordinance 2-2025, authorizing a $70,000 business incentive grant to G5 Entertainment LLC to support the company’s plan to open a Slick City Action Parks family entertainment center in a 39,000-square-foot space at Beltway Plaza.

Why it matters: The facility is projected to add jobs with an estimated annual payroll of about $750,000, increase foot traffic in a retail hub and fill a recently vacant large-format space.

What council approved: Council member Jacobs read the ordinance and moved to authorize the mayor and city administrator to execute a business incentive grant agreement in the amount of $70,000. The grant is payable within 90 days of the location’s opening. The agreement includes a clawback provision: if the business ceases operation in Springdale within seven years, the grant must be repaid, with the required repayment reduced by $10,000 each year of operation until it expires.

Presentation and company details: A staff representative described the operating model for Slick City Action Parks (ticketed, timed entry to indoor slides and family entertainment, party space, limited arcade). Doug Mormon, representing the developer (Development Strategies Group), said patrons will be encouraged to bring their own food; the facility will have some on-site limited food and beverage options. The presenter said renovations were expected to begin in May with an opening targeted for December 2025.

Location and context: The proposed tenant would occupy the former Sam Ash location adjacent to Dave & Buster’s at Beltway Plaza. City officials described the site as part of an emerging family-entertainment cluster at that center. Council approved the ordinance by recorded vote, 7-0.
