County approves bridge-inspection and right-of-way contracts for multiple projects

Monroe County commissioners approved a supplemental agreement for bridge inspections and several right-of-way and design supplements tied to future bridge projects during the Jan. 9 meeting.
The board approved a supplemental payment of $35,297 to the firm conducting bridge inspections to cover additional man-hours and new state reporting requirements for the county’s 160-bridge inventory. Commissioners also approved right-of-way services for the Baby Creek Bridge (Bridge No. 629) and a supplemental agreement for Dillman Road Bridge (Bridge No. 83), which county staff said will reduce overall construction costs even though design changes raised consulting expenses.
Miss Ridge (county staff) explained the state’s updated reporting rules require more photos, executive summaries and uploads to the state bridge-inspection system and that the extra work increased man-hours during the 2022–2025 inspection cycle. The Baby Creek and Dillman Road contracts were described as federal-aid projects scheduled for later-year construction; Baby Creek right-of-way services were approved for fund 8167 in the amount of $22,365 and the Dillman Road supplement for fund 1135 in the amount of $41,800.
All bridge and inspection items passed by roll call, 3-0. County staff said the approvals move the projects forward through design and right-of-way phases toward construction in the indicated fiscal years.
