Commissioners adopt annual Monroe County code update, move to fewer in-person presentations

The Monroe County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 9 approved Resolution 2025-01, a routine update to the county code.
Dave Schilling of the county legal department told the board the practice of compiling and presenting code updates dates to the 1980s, but with electronic publication now the department will provide annual updates to a small set of local libraries rather than continuing semiannual in-person presentations. Schilling said the office will continue to maintain the county code and circulate updates to the Indiana University library, the IU law library and the Monroe County Public Library.
Commissioners approved the change and invited the legal department to continue providing updates as statutes and ordinances are adopted. The motion passed by roll call, 3-0.
