District schedules literacy site visits as task force narrows adoption timeline

District literacy leaders presented an updated timeline for the elementary literacy curriculum review and scheduled site visits and teacher demonstrations to inform the adoption decision.
Key items: the district ran DIBELS-8 training and I-Ready trainings for staff, hosted vendor demonstrations (Wit & Wisdom; Amplify/CKLA) at elementary and middle grades in December and early January, and will convene LPAC (language program advisory) and site visits between Jan. 22 and Feb. 11. The literacy task force plans to review stakeholder feedback and finalize a recommendation at its Feb. 11 meeting. The committee will receive a finalized report and presentation on March 6.
Staff emphasized professional learning supports aligned to the science of reading: DIBELS-8 follow-up trainings, writing- and grammar-focused PD, and implementation planning with principals. The task force also noted that site visits must be coordinated with other nearby districts that are considering the same curricula to ensure teachers can observe ongoing implementations.
No vote was taken. Staff said training and resource pages are posted on the district’s curriculum review site and that they will develop a staged rollout and implementation plan for any selected program.
