At its regular meeting the Piedmont School Board approved several business items and budget actions by unanimous votes, including bond-funded facility upgrades, a turf installation, an insurance coverage increase and a one-year extension to the superintendent's contract.

Board members voted on and approved the following motions (all recorded 5–0 unless noted otherwise):

Intercom system upgrades (bond funds): The board approved awarding intercom system upgrades to INDEX of Oklahoma for five sites listed in the agenda: Stoneridge Elementary ($71,250), Northwood Elementary ($70,500), Piedmont High School ($118,950), the Early Childhood Center ($71,125) and Piedmont Intermediate ($81,750). Increase liability insurance: The board approved increasing liability coverage with Oklahoma Schools Insurance Group from $1,000,000 to $4,000,000 with a prorated premium of $10,690 for the remainder of the policy term. The finance presenter said the prorated cost now would be about $10,690 (with an estimated incremental cost next year of about $21,000). Motion by Katie; second by Jared. Change order for Penn's Athletic Fields (building funds): The board approved a $7,040 change order for Penn’s Athletic Fields related to a hitting-facility project to meet local pier/peer requirements and city standards. Superintendent contract extension: The board approved extending the superintendent’s contract by one year (motion language: approve action on employment of superintendent and extension of the superintendent’s contract; add one year). The board recorded each vote verbally; no roll-call abstentions, recusals or no votes were recorded in the transcript. Several motions referenced specific funding sources (bond funds, building funds) and state contract purchasing rules for approved vendors. Board members and staff indicated that GMPs and bid results for capital packages will be returned to the board at future meetings for budget reconciliation and contract approval.
