Watkins said the county is coordinating with TDOT and the city of Tullahoma to locate county-entry welcome signs on state right-of-way and that a TDOT official wishes to approve each individual location. Watkins also described the Hillsborough signal project as a federally funded upgrade: engineers will install galvanized steel posts, cross arms, pedestrian push-button crossings and radar-controlled detection to replace in-pavement loops. The commissioner emphasized the county will not pay for the project itself but will be responsible for electricity and routine maintenance.
Capital projects and bid timeline items announced by the Capital Outlay committee include: - Animal shelter bid opening: February 20 at 11:00 a.m. - Health department bid opening: February 25 at 11:00 a.m.
Commissioners also reported site preparation for the health department appears complete, and the county will monitor the bid openings and coordination with TDOT for signage and signal installations.
