Irving parks and recreation outlines three-year plan: Lee Park pool, Center Park natatorium, and Mustang Park complex

Irving Parks and Recreation Director Joe Moses provided council members an update on a multi-year package of aquatics and recreation projects the city plans to deliver over the next three years.

Moses said Lee Park's new pool will open in 2025 and will be designed to maximize usable water area so more residents can use the facility; the new design limits deep-water-only areas and incorporates play features similar to the city's water-park amenities. Center Park will receive a major renovation and an attached indoor natatorium; the facility's entrance will be reoriented to face the park and the renovation will be staged to improve flexibility and accessibility. Mustang Park is planned as a multi-generational recreation center with a senior component, an aquatic component, indoor track and other features; the city targets Mustang Park as the final opening in the three-year sequence, with a 2027 completion window.

Moses told council the projects were financed through a package the city assembled and that Irving is moving quickly through design and into construction. He said the scale and pace are uncommon but reflect a deliberate city-level commitment to parks and recreation.
