During public comment at the Jan. 13 Village of Lake Bluff Board of Trustees meeting, Peter White, a resident of 400 East Sheridan Place, asked whether a new camera at the Green Bay Road and Route 176 intersection was a Flock automated camera.
"Last March or April, I, advocated for the flock cameras in Lake Bluff. I just wondered, is that a flock camera that we're seeing on Green Bay and 176 now? There's a camera up there," White said.
Village staff answered that the camera at that intersection is not a village installation and that Flock’s installation depends on state permitting and other agencies. "If it is, it's not the villages. We've been waiting for flock to come in and install them and finish getting their permits from IDOT," a village staff member said.
The staff member said intergovernmental agreements with neighboring municipalities cited in earlier discussions — including Lake Forest and Great Lakes — have been signed and executed. He added that one camera location remains delayed because of a jurisdictional dispute; North Chicago and the Navy have both indicated the other may have responsibility for permitting at that location.
White pressed for a completion date; staff said the permit had been returned to the vendor and that the vendor is working with IDOT and others on installation. Trustee Cole commented that he was "just happy that it looks like progress," and the exchange ended with the village indicating they would continue to try to expedite permits.
No formal action was taken by the board on the camera installations during the meeting.
