County staff gave an update on the Veterans Center project during the Jan. 16 meeting. “We were able to get the roof stabilized. We’re putting the new roof on, new HVAC units and getting all that done. And we’ll start the process of demolishing the interior, preparing that for building,” Anthony Trevina said.
Treyna (transcribed as Trevina) and other staff said the county hosted an Ohio veterans leader from Columbus who visited the site and expressed support for the project. County staff said the center will become a veterans campus of care focused on mental health and related services; staff described the project as moving forward and thanked commissioners for their support.
The board was also told that the veterans board retained its current slate of officers: Marti Loney as chair, Mr. Cavalli as vice chairman and Mr. Edwards as secretary-treasurer. Commissioners and staff characterized the project as a multi-step renovation that includes stabilization, systems replacement and interior rebuilding.
Ending: County staff said work is ongoing and that the project will continue through the renovation phases; commissioners thanked staff and expressed optimism about the planned campus of care.
