Council to consider multiple contract amendments tied to Highway 127 North utility relocations

Staff presented four related contract actions for Highway 127 North: two survey/easement engineering contracts with Hudson Gabriel for phases 2 and 3, and two utility-relocation cost estimates for phases 2 and 3 that will form the basis for agreements with TDOT. "6 and 7 are are contract engineering contracts with Hudson Gabriel. We currently already have contracts with them. But these 2 contracts will let them provide us with survey information for easements in the project," a staff member said.
Staff said phase 2 includes three easements at $2,200 per easement and phase 3 includes 15 easements at $2,200 per easement. For utility relocation, staff described phase 2 as a $6,000,000 water-relocation project with $1,300,000 to be deposited into an account by the city; phase 3 utility relocation was described as a $2,600,000 project that will not require a city deposit. "It's a $6,000,000 water relocation project and it it shows that 1,300,000 will be deposited into an account by the city," the staff member said of phase 2.
Council asked questions and staff said all four items will be added to the agenda for formal consideration and contracting. No formal approvals were recorded during the work session.
