Taos board delays officer change; agrees to review midyear

President Mark Flores opened the item as the board’s annual reorganization discussion. Several members described the value of continuity while others advocated for providing Vice President Cynthia Sprague an opportunity to prepare for the presidency through closer mentoring by the current president.
Board members described options including a phased leadership handover or a midyear revisit. Concerns raised included the time commitment of the presidency, upcoming election timelines and the need to mentor less-experienced members. Multiple members said they were willing to serve in any role the board requested.
After discussion a motion was made and amended to leave the officers as currently constituted and to put reorganization on the June agenda for further consideration. The motion passed on a roll-call vote.
