Committee schedules briefings on health care, broadband, captive insurance and bitcoin

Members noted a captive insurance housekeeping bill will appear next week and said there is a separate, potentially controversial bitcoin bill intended to limit kiosk-style cryptocurrency purchases. A member said last year's effort placed "pretty severe breaks" on such kiosks and that the new bill will address emerging issues in cryptocurrencies.
Broadband and utility oversight were also raised: a member asked whether broadband issues should be considered by committees that oversee utilities given the physical infrastructure aspects. The member said tax or fee conversations related to broadband would return to the committee if proposed.
The committee described next week's agenda as a mix of informational briefings and bills that may require further review.
