Snoqualmie Economic Development Commission approves agenda, minutes and elects chair and vice chair

The Snoqualmie Economic Development Commission on Wednesday, Jan. 15, approved its meeting agenda and the minutes of its Oct. 16, 2024 meeting, and formally elected Christine Hudson as chair and Paula Shively as vice chair.

The commission convened virtually and established a quorum of four members before handling routine business. A motion to approve the meeting agenda was moved and seconded and carried. The minutes for the Oct. 16, 2024 meeting were moved, seconded and approved.

The commission then opened nominations for its annual leadership positions. A nomination for Christine Hudson to serve as commission chair was made and seconded; the commission voted in favor and Hudson was appointed chair. Paula Shively was nominated and appointed vice chair after a second and voice vote.

Why it matters: leadership elections determine who sets meeting agendas and coordinates the commission's work program, which this year includes business outreach, affordable housing coordination and priorities tied to regional transportation projects.

The meeting also included liaison reports and a discussion of roundtable outreach to downtown merchants, affordable-housing planning for a city-owned parcel (known as Parcel 9033), and regional issues including minimum-wage changes in parts of King County and disaster-recovery funding following the November storm.
