Members of the Downtown Management Commission met on Jan. 14 to consolidate their 2025 priorities. Commissioners focused discussion and agreed to refine and formally adopt a short list at the commission’s next meeting.
The priorities commissioners discussed and consolidated were: - Public safety and ambassador resources (policing, Block by Block funding and coordination with ambassadors). - Economic vitality and underused-space activation (supporting return-to-work efforts, activating vacant office and underutilized spaces, and exploring affordable commercial strategies). - Strengthening connections between downtown and the Hill (wayfinding, events and operational coordination). - Targeted summit or joint-commission engagement to coordinate on cross-cutting initiatives (not a meeting for its own sake; commissioners emphasized actionable outcomes).
Reagan, staff member, offered to draft refined language reflecting the discussion and circulate it to commissioners for review; staff will return a polished set of priorities for formal adoption at a future meeting. Commissioners supported a short set of mutually exclusive, actionable priorities and suggested staff prepare a one-page summary that ties each priority to measurable near-term deliverables.
