Mayor says Summit Connect signage must be removed until work is imminent

"They're only going to have permission to put them up one week before they start working in that area," the mayor said, and added that the city will remove signs that remain after work is complete or that were placed too far in advance. The mayor said the county project is laying fiber for public-safety use and that communities along the route had been asked to allow temporary signage.
City staff were directed to have engineering staff contact the county contractor to ensure signs are posted and removed according to the city's one-week rule. The mayor said if the contractor does not remove signs voluntarily, the city will remove them.
Council did not vote on an ordinance or formal suspension of rules; the direction to have engineering speak with the contractor and to remove noncompliant signs was stated by the mayor during council communications.
