County approves MOU and depot lease with Tracks and Yaks, includes shared-bathroom language

Allegany County commissioners approved a memorandum of understanding and lease with Tracks and Yaks that formalizes the business’s use of depot space and shared restroom facilities.
County economic development staff introduced the item and invited Adam Borchino, owner of Tracks and Yaks, to speak. Borchino said the business has operated in the county for some time, plans to continue and hopes to extend operations for several years. He also said he had purchased another business across the street and intends improvements and additional offerings.
A county official clarified that language addressing shared bathroom use is included in the contract to address prior concerns. Commissioners approved the agreement by voice vote.
The memorandum of understanding includes coordination with the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad on track use, and a lease provision for depot space to be used for events and public access when trains arrive.
