Commissioners approve Rail Pros low bid for Kingspan rail design; Maryland Commerce to fund project

Staff recommended contracting with Rail Pros as the low bidder and noted Rail Pros provided the initial schematic and strong communication during the process.
The staff presentation said the project will be funded by a commitment from Maryland Commerce to fund up to $1,000,000 for the project; staff described a likely payment structure in which an initial portion would be advanced and the remainder provided later. Commissioners approved the item by voice vote.
Commissioner Jeff Barclay said the project could create about 95 jobs to start, a figure staff called conservative. County officials said the board will balance state and local funding commitments for the project as details are finalized.
