District superintendent search: HYA holding forums and survey; community input due Jan. 22

During the Jan. 14 Rye City School District Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Dr. Byrne updated the board on the district’s superintendent search process led by consultants Hazard Young and Associates (HYA).
Dr. Byrne said HYA has met with administrators, staff, parents, students and community members to develop a leadership profile for the next superintendent. HYA held an in-person community forum at Milton School the morning of Jan. 14 and a Zoom forum was scheduled for the evening of Jan. 15 at 7 p.m.; login details and a link to an anonymous survey are posted on the district website under the Board of Education tab (superintendent search page).
The administration asked community members to complete HYA’s anonymous survey; the meeting record states the survey will remain open until Jan. 22 at 5 p.m. HYA is scheduled to present its leadership profile to the board in public session at the Jan. 28 meeting.
Dr. Byrne also noted that Rye High School Performing Arts Center will host a ceremonial inaugural event for former Westchester County Executive George Latimer on Jan. 26 and said the district is finalizing the 2025–26 school year calendar for board discussion on Jan. 28 and anticipated approval at the Feb. 11 meeting.
No board action was required on the superintendent search update at the Jan. 14 meeting.
