Board reviews new harassment (Title IX) policy and updated records policy; both move to adoption at next meeting

At the Jan. 14 Rye City School District Board meeting, Board Member Jen Boyle presented two policy items for review: a new consolidated policy, 0110, prohibiting sex-based harassment (including Title IX requirements), and an updated school records policy, 1120, that adds employee notification language for Freedom of Information requests.
Boyle said 0110 compiles Title IX requirements and New York State obligations into a single policy document, replacing multiple separate policies that had previously addressed employees and students in different places. She told the board that because the policy text includes procedural detail, no separate regulation was required.
The records policy update incorporates language recommended by the New York State School Boards Association to require notification to current and former employees when their personnel records are the subject of public-records requests. Boyle asked for no further changes and the board agreed to advance both policies to be adopted at the next board meeting.
No vote was taken on final adoption at the Jan. 14 meeting; the policies will return for final action at the board’s next meeting.
