The Historic Zoning Commission voted Jan. 15 to approve a new office building for the Friends of Warner Parks at 50 Vaughn Road in Edwin Warner Park, with conditions on final materials and an archaeological survey.
Staff said the design mimics the WPA-era park structures and that the proposed height, scale, location, roof forms and window/door patterns meet the design guidelines for the landmark park. Staff recommended approval with conditions that the commission sign off on final material selections and that an archaeological survey be completed; the applicant has already coordinated with the department archaeologist.
Emily Wilson Hamm, the architect representing Friends of Warner Parks, told the commission the team agreed with the staff recommendations and had scheduled coordination with the staff archaeologist.
Commissioners voted to approve the project with the recommended conditions. Staff will review final material samples and the archaeology results prior to issuing final approvals.
