Lakeview offered a 10% discount on McKinney-Vento transportation costs for the first year of the contract and agreed to cooperate while the district explores alternative vendors specifically for McKinney-Vento routes.
District staff also said Lakeview collaborated with district officials to submit a grant application to replace diesel buses with electric models; Lakeview identified three vehicles that could be part of a grant-funded conversion or replacement while fulfilling federal grant disposal/turn-in requirements. Lakeview said it would include a provision in the contract language for electric-bus exploration.
The board did not take a contract vote Tuesday; staff said the renewal would be brought back for action at a later meeting. District staff emphasized the ongoing relationship with Lakeview (service relationship spanning decades) and noted Lakeviewhad been responsive during the negotiation and projection process.
