The Historic Zoning Commission on Jan. 15 approved staffrecommendation to accept the reconstructed house at 905 North 12th Street, directing a small set of follow-up steps before final sign-off. The vote was unanimous.
Commission staff told the commission the reconstructed house "matches the historic house" in height, scale, roof forms, window and door patterns and that "the materials installed meet the design guidelines," though staff noted the front doors and a walkway were outstanding. The staff presentation said the walkway that led from the street to the porch "has been removed," and recommended it be reinstalled.
During the meeting Brent Atkinson, the contractor representing the applicant, told commissioners the walkway was scheduled to be installed the coming Friday and that the front doors had been purchased and submitted to staff for review. "The walkway is scheduled to be installed this Friday depending on weather," Atkinson said. He added the applicant believed they had met the conditions on HVAC and electrical unit locations.
Commissioner Mayhall moved and Commissioner Smith seconded approval of staffrecommendation; the motion passed without dissent.
The commissiondirection leaves staff to confirm that the front doors are approved prior to purchase and installation, that the walkway is reinstalled, and that the approved HVAC and utility locations remain acceptable prior to final sign-off.
