During the reorganization portion of its Jan. 14 meeting, the Gonzales City Council elected Councilmember Liz Silva to serve as Mayor Pro Tem.
The mayor asked for nominations for the office; a councilmember nominated Liz Silva and the nomination was seconded. The council voted in favor by voice; the clerk recorded the vote as “aye” and the mayor announced the motion carried.
The council also confirmed its standing board and committee assignments for the coming year during the reorganization segment and asked staff to maintain existing appointments unless a member requests a change. Councilmembers noted potential schedule conflicts for some regional commitments and said alternates would attend when needed.
The council moved on after the vote to other agenda items.
