The Owen County Commissioners approved a tentative meeting schedule for January and February and directed staff to prepare formal paperwork to adopt the schedule.
During a short meeting, a member moved and another seconded to accept meeting dates of Jan. 23 at 6 p.m., Feb. 6 at 9 a.m., and Feb. 20 at 6 p.m.; the motion passed by voice vote. Commissioners said the Jan. 23 meeting will be a joint session with the council.
The vote came after one participant explained the proposed dates and asked that staff be kept apprised of a commissioner’s changing work schedule in mid-February. Commissioners said they would revisit meeting times at the Feb. 6 meeting if needed.
A staff member, Sheila, said the Jan. 23 date had been added to the council agenda and indicated notices “would have been” published in the county’s usual channels; she also said the matter would appear on next Wednesday’s meeting materials. A commissioner suggested redoing the county’s meeting ordinance so the board need not re-advertise each change, and a staff member said a resolution will be required to formalize the schedule.
No individual roll-call votes were recorded in the transcript; the minutes show a voice vote with members responding “Aye.” The board did not adopt a final, year-long calendar at the meeting and noted the schedule remains tentative pending staff follow-up and a commissioner’s final work schedule from his employer.
The commissioners adjourned after the scheduling action and brief clarifying remarks.
