Library board approves Dec. 18 minutes and vouchers; board confirms referendum submission

The Village of Cottage Grove Library Board voted Jan. 15 to approve the Dec. 18, 2024 meeting minutes and to approve vouchers and expenses that close out 2024, and the board adjourned by unanimous voice vote.
A motion to approve the Dec. 18 minutes was moved by Eric and seconded by Megan; the chair called for the question and the motion carried. Later in the meeting, the board voted to approve the vouchers and expenses “as written.” The motion on vouchers was moved by Eric and seconded by JP; the motion carried by voice vote with no named dissents.
Cameron Swagger, the village finance director, reviewed the year-end accounting for the library fund and said the library fund “ran a deficit this year. That was anticipated because there were some carryover funds from last year.” He said approximately “a little over $1,000 that's gonna again be carried over in the 2025.” Swagger also said about “a little over 4,000 last year that was carried over” had been spent down during 2024.
In the Library Board President's reports, the board president said the Village Board approved the referendum question and that it had been submitted for the April 1 ballot. Board staff later confirmed the submission passed Department of Revenue review and final legal review.
The board then moved to adjourn; the motion to adjourn was made by JP, seconded by Megan, and carried.
