BRSSD outlines three middle-school options and enrollment timeline

Dan Degora, superintendent of the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District, opened a district middle-school information night by saying the district offers “three unique options with one great fit for your child.”
The presentation walked families through the enrollment process, site-specific information nights, and assignment and orientation dates. Parents must complete online enrollment via the district website; principals said additional, school-level nights in February will provide more detail about program differences.

District officials said new families must complete online enrollment at brssd.org. The district will send a middle-school preference form to current fifth-grade families by email on Feb. 7; the form must be returned by Feb. 21. Site-specific information nights are scheduled Feb. 4 (Sandpiper) and Feb. 5 (Nesbitt). The district aims to send middle-school assignments to current families by April 4 and to newly enrolled families by June 13. School-site orientations will take place in August before the start of the school year.
The district will post the information-night recording, the Zoom Q&A transcript and an FAQ on the district website. Degora and district staff said they would answer remaining questions posted in the Zoom Q&A and circulate any follow-up materials.
District staff emphasized that all three middle-school programs are standards-aligned and that families should review site-specific nights for finer details on scheduling, electives and supports. No formal vote or action was taken at the presentation; the session provided information and directions for families about enrollment steps.
