Board advances several policies: Title I family engagement, registration forms, epinephrine procedures and device policy review
Summary

Trustees reviewed multiple policy and procedure items required for federal and state compliance and moved several forward for adoption or additional readings.
District staff said policy 2420 (Parent and Family Engagement), required annually under federal Title I guidance, had no suggested changes from the federal programs director and was moved forward for adoption. Administrators also presented registration form updates (35100-F) — including adjustments related to dyslexia screening signatures and updated health-services notices — and an epinephrine policy (3516) to authorize district-supplied epinephrine storage and trained staff use; both were moved to a second reading.
The student electronic-communication device policy (3265) was presented for a second reading with no substantive revisions since the first reading. Trustees asked that the administration gather additional feedback from elementary staff and parents about specific details (for example, smartwatches and in-class communications) and scheduled a third reading after that outreach.
Trustees asked that the district’s federal programs director present Title I family-engagement plans and the consolidated federal-state grant plan (CFSGA) in a future meeting so the board and public can understand how the Title I program operates in the district.
