Board approves FFA and All-State music trips for Middleton students

The Middleton School District Board of Trustees approved three student overnight trip requests: the FFA leadership conference in Garden City (Boise area), an FFA competition trip to northern Utah, and travel for students selected to the All-State honor band and choirs in Lewiston, Idaho.
Dominic Conti, director of band at Middleton High School, told trustees the music trip will include six students who auditioned and were selected for All-State and that the students will rehearse and perform with high-caliber conductors. "These students are gonna be working with high-caliber conductors to help expand their skills and play with students from all around the state," Conti said. He thanked the superintendent and principal for financial support that helps cover tuition, purchase of music, transportation and housing.
On the FFA northern Utah trip, district staff said the group plans to take 18 students plus two chaperones, and that the program funded most costs through fundraisers. One packet listed a total trip cost of $1,155 with an individual student cost of $60; funding will come from the program and district supports where applicable.
Board approval was recorded by voice vote. Trustees directed staff to confirm final student lists and chaperone arrangements — including male and female chaperone coverage for mixed groups — and to file trip itineraries with the district.
