Provo Schools recognize teachers and staff at Provo Way Awards

Deputy Superintendent Jason Cox led the Provo Way Awards portion of the meeting, recognizing five employees from district schools for exemplary work.
The awardees named during the meeting were Kristen Sorensen (Centennial Middle School), Heather Carnes (Tempe View), Justin Golightly (Shoreline Middle School), Debbie Larson (Amelia Earhart Elementary) and Hannah Whitmer (Amelia Earhart Elementary). Colleagues who nominated the employees described classroom creativity, dedication to students and long-standing mentorship at their schools.
Presenters showed a short video honoring the recipients and invited them forward so board members could offer personal thanks. Nominators’ remarks emphasized classroom engagement for students who struggle with English and long hours spent supporting school programs. A board member thanked all awardees and asked the board and audience to congratulate them.
The Provo Way Awards were presented as part of the board’s community-connections agenda and carry no budgetary or policy change; they were recognition-only items.
