Brownsville — The Brownsville City Council on Jan. 14 approved Resolution 1075 to close a downtown alley and convert it into a public gathering space with murals, overhead lights and movable seating.
City officials said the project is being led by Main Street with funding in place for murals and lighting from a T‑Mobile grant; additional elements such as a set of decorative “angel wings” and tables and chairs would be added in a later phase if private funding is secured. "The murals and the overhead lights will be phase 1," said Tom (Main Street representative). "The angel wings and the tables and chairs will be phase 2."
