The Bonita Springs Assistance Office introduced Kaylee Martin as its new director of operations and outlined services that include a weekly emergency food pantry, emergency financial assistance and a new short-term case-management service intended to connect clients to longer-term supports.
Martin, who said she has more than 11 years in social services and behavioral-health operations, told council she wants to move the office from transactional assistance toward “transformational” services by combining emergency financial help with short-term case management to help clients create action plans that reduce repeat visits.
The office, located off Burnwood Drive, partners with Harry Chapin Food Bank and Feeding America and runs the pantry Monday and Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Any Lee County resident may access the pantry. Martin said the office runs a senior “care and share” program in partnership with Harry Chapin that serves about 70 Bonita Springs senior participants who receive a monthly supply of food.
Martin said the office will continue emergency financial assistance and that the added case-management service will use short-term plans and referrals to community partners to reduce return visits. Board members attending the meeting included Chris Reason, Arden McCurdy and Darcy Eichenberg, who were introduced by John (surname not specified), the assistance office board president.
No council action was required; the presentation was introductory and described available services and hours.
