Sun Valley CAB members and commissioners urge public to attend Jan. 28 strategic planning meeting amid review of advisory boards

"Our upcoming strategic planning meeting is coming up on January 28th," Commissioner Garcia told the CAB, describing an all‑day session in the county chambers that will include updates on senior initiatives, a regional approach to behavioral health called the sequential intercept model, regional housing and public‑private partnerships. "It's open to the public, 9:30 to 8 PM," Garcia said, and encouraged residents to attend.
Multiple CAB members and alternates said the advisory boards are an important avenue for residents to influence development and county decisions. Heidi Stolper, a CAB member, urged attendance at the Jan. 28 meeting and said she would distribute a published article on CABs that explains their purpose and impact. Commissioner Herman and other CAB participants described past examples where CAB input influenced project design and road improvements.
New CAB member Veronica Cortez introduced herself to the board, saying she is a Sun Valley business owner and third‑generation resident. "I want to, you know, feel like Garcia said the goals that I personally have for Sun Valley... I care just as much for you and what's happening to you because I grew up here," Cortez said, and listed priorities that include youth agriculture programming, mental‑health services and senior supports.
