Roots Yoga held a grand-opening ribbon-cutting in Medina on Friday, Jan. 10, with city officials and business partners presenting proclamations and congratulatory certificates.
Kimberly, a city staff member, opened the event and called it “the first ribbon cutting event of 2025,” thanking attendees for joining the celebration. Mayor Dennis Hanwell presented a city proclamation that welcomed Roots Yoga and praised the studio’s contribution to local health and well-being, saying the city “is honored to officially welcome Roots Yoga to Medina.”
The event included representatives from local business organizations and media. Jacqueline Rigsmeier, executive director of the Medina Chamber of Commerce, and Stephanie Mueller participated on behalf of the chamber, while Sam Custer and Manfred Heck represented Main Street, Medina. Jeff King, community liaison for U.S. Rep. Max Miller, presented a certificate from the congressman’s office. The mayor also presented a certificate on behalf of the Medina County Commissioners and read a congratulatory letter from Secretary of State Frank LaRose.
Jamie, the owner of Roots Yoga, thanked the community and credited a range of helpers in preparing the studio. “We raise our family here, and so we’re just really looking forward to being a bigger part of our local community,” Jamie said, and singled out Justin Lacurce for construction work that helped finish the remodel. The owner introduced family members who were present: husband Robert and children Zoe and Eli.
City staff and local partners said they will share video of the event on the local cable channel to provide additional exposure for the business. No formal city actions, votes, or policy decisions were taken at the ribbon-cutting.
The ceremony concluded with the ribbon cutting and applause. The city said it looks forward to Roots Yoga’s operations in Medina and extended best wishes for the studio’s success.
