Sunbury Charter Review Commission begins work; chair elected, meetings scheduled

The Charter Review Commission met for the first time and elected leadership, council members reported at the Jan. 15 Sunbury City Council meeting. Council members Cooper and another council member attended the commission’s first meeting and thanked members who were present at council that evening.
Commission members elected a chair and established a framework to "front load the work as much as possible," focusing first on complex charter issues, council members said. Council member comments identified Randy Rentz as the chair and noted that one member of the commission served on the original charter commission.
The commission will meet regularly — council members said the schedule is the second and fourth Tuesday of each month — and will aim to provide recommendations to council no later than July 1. Council members invited the public to attend meetings and said Administrator Hennessy and council staff will coordinate topics and provide guidance when requested.
Council also noted a need to schedule a third meeting during the month and discussed canceling it; a motion to adjourn followed the commission update.
