The City of Camarillo Planning Commission voted Jan. 24, 2025, to elect Vice Chair Lamont as its next chair and Commissioner Davidson as vice chair, and approved the meeting’s consent calendar. Under the commission’s bylaws, the new officers will assume their roles at the commission’s next meeting in February.
The nominations and elections followed the commission’s reorganization procedures laid out in its bylaws. Chair Edsall opened nominations for chair; a commissioner nominated Vice Chair Lamont. After a motion and second to close nominations, commissioners held a roll-call election and voted to elect Lamont. The commission used the same process to nominate and elect Commissioner Davidson as vice chair. Commissioners were told the new chair will appoint members to the Architectural Review Committee at the February meeting.
The consent calendar was moved for approval and carried. One commissioner abstained from that vote, saying they were absent from the prior meeting and therefore would abstain from approving that earlier meeting’s minutes or related consent items.
Commissioners and staff briefly acknowledged the incoming leadership during the meeting. The commission’s procedural change was noted: under the updated bylaws nominations do not require a second; to close nominations a motion and vote are required, and officers take office at the next meeting rather than immediately.
The newly elected chair and vice chair will conduct the February meeting and will have the authority to make committee appointments at that time.
