David Klug elected chair of Sarpy County boards; commissioners named liaison assignments

On Jan. 14, 2025, Sarpy County commissioners elected David Klug as chair of the Board of Commissioners, the Board of Equalization and the Board of Corrections for 2025 and assigned liaison duties to commissioners for the coming year.
Elections were moved and seconded; votes were recorded as 5-0 in each instance. Commissioner Don Kelly agreed to serve as vice chair for the board of equalization and as vice chairman again for the Board of Commissioners. The board also recorded liaison and committee assignments for 2025: among others, Jim Warren and an assigned commissioner will serve on the Budget and Finance Committee; Don Kelly and others were assigned to the Eastern Nebraska Human Services Agency Region 6 Governing Board; Angie Burmeister will represent the county on the Nebraska Association of County Officials; Don Kelly will serve on the Sarpy County and Cities Wastewater Agency Board; and various commissioners were named to audit, compensation, merit and other committees.
Chair Klug outlined broad goals including managing county growth, maintaining road efficiency, and coordinating with the county wastewater agency and Omaha Public Power District on infrastructure needs. The votes electing Klug and confirming vice chair and committee assignments were unanimous.
