Sarpy County board reappoints classified employee representative, elects chair and vice chair

The Sarpy County Personnel Policy Board reappointed George Forrest as the classified employee representative, elected Melissa Kimberling chair and named Diane Bruce vice chair during its Jan. 15 meeting in the county boardroom.

The board moved quickly through organizational business at the start of the session. Randy Bennett moved to reappoint George Forrest as the classified employee representative to the personnel policy board; the motion was seconded and carried after an abstention was recorded. During the vote George Forrest said, "On this I need to abstain." The board recorded the result as three in favor, one abstention and one absent; the motion carried.

Members then conducted elections for board leadership. Randy Bennett nominated Melissa Kimberling for chair, with George Forrest seconding the nomination. With no other nominations, the board elected Kimberling as chair; the vote was recorded as three in favor, one abstention and one absent.

For vice chair, Bennett nominated Diane Bruce; George Forrest seconded. The board recorded that vote as four in favor and one absent and named Diane Bruce vice chair.

The board approved the minutes of the Nov. 20, 2024 meeting by a vote of four in favor and one absent. All procedural motions were made and seconded on the record.

Each action was taken without public comment; staff present included Board Secretary Carrie Plummer Galecki and representatives from the County Attorney’s Office and Human Resources.
