Board endorses 247 Telecom and Mosaic for BEAD project support; public meeting set for Hay River area

The Dunn County Board of Supervisors unanimously endorsed two local internet providers Jan. 15 for participation in future BEAD (broadband equity and deployment) funding rounds. The Board voted to endorse 247 Telecom for projects south of County Highway 170 and to endorse Mosaic (Mosaic Telecom/Technologies) for projects north of Highway 170.
Dan Dunbar described the endorsements as the Broadband Task Force’s method to identify and support providers that will submit applications for state BEAD funding. He said Mosaic plans a significant application in the Hay River area and that a public meeting on that proposal will be held Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. at the Hay River Town Hall. Supervisors thanked local providers for their outreach and work on applications.
Bob Bauer moved the two endorsement resolutions; both motions were seconded and passed by voice vote. County staff and task force members said the endorsements are intended to support local providers in competitive BEAD rounds and that providers will still need to submit formal applications and meet state requirements.
