Hamilton County commissioners approved consent-agenda items 3 through 12 during the Jan. 16 meeting, a package that included procurement awards, a small "then and now" payment, credit-card authorizations for the sheriff’s office and the county’s monthly investment report.
The notable procurements recorded in the consent agenda were: an $2,050,000 award under RFP 129-23 for an automated fingerprint identification system (AFIS) for the sheriff’s office; an ITB award to Triton Services for replacement of a failing control-room air-conditioning unit at Great American Ballpark at $159,969; and a $1,112 then-and-now payment to River City Correctional Center for a fire-suppression inspection. The board also approved an easement request from the University of Cincinnati related to access for an MSD 24-inch sewer pipe.
Items 8–11 were authorizations for credit-card usage within the sheriff’s office (transport, operating supplies and travel), each item recorded at $120,000. During discussion Commissioner Reese asked who has access to the department’s cards and whether the amounts represent an increase from last year; county staff said they would follow up with details on internal controls and historic limits. Reese also asked for a report on county fire-hydrant inspections and responsibilities; staff agreed to provide a written report listing inspection procedures, the number of hydrants and jurisdictional responsibility.
The consent agenda was approved unanimously by roll call. No items were pulled for separate action during the meeting.
