Assistant chief (police) described the program as an operational mutual-aid roster (levels 1–8) that participating agencies use to call for neighboring assistance during emergency incidents such as active-shooter responses. The system is modeled on the fire-service mutual-aid concept discussed earlier in the meeting and is limited to emergency activations, not for routine planned events.
Commitments and costs: The commission was told agencies on a call list commit to send at least one person when called; the sending agency would bear the cost of that deployment. The chief said Marathon County is revalidating participating agencies and expects to re-establish the program’s participation list in the coming weeks.
Vote: The motion to begin the joining process passed on a roll call vote.
